Actors, singers, and dancers are all called upon to enter rehearsals and performances vulnerable and open. Sometimes they play roles of people who do terrible things, or explore themes that can activate previous traumas or negative experiences.
Boundary and closure practices can support performers in all genres in separating “the work” from “the artist”. In this 3 hour workshop we will use lecture, personal reflection, interactive exercises, and group discussions to define and create boundary and closure practices. Each participant will leave with tools and resources to enter and exit the next performance process confidently and safely.
While this workshop is meant for performers, teachers of performance may also benefit from these tools to help students think through boundaries and closure.
